We’ve added more than 800 people to our team from all walks of life.
And that’s just one of the reasons we love coming to work!
We have the nicest, the friendliest, the funniest, the cheekiest people, and we love working with them all.
A lot of our friends and whanau tell us, “It’s the people” that makes DMS a place they want to keep coming back year after year and season to season.
For others’ “it’s the pay”, “it’s the opportunities” or “it’s the free food”.
Work with the nicest people at DMS!
There are six core values at DMS that don’t just live on the wall; we live, recognise and celebrate them every day. If these values resonate with you, then there’s a very good chance you’d be a great fit at DMS:
The main Kiwifruit season started in early March and depending on the volume of fruit, will likely finish some time in June.
After that there’s what we call the ‘repack season’ which is where we pack fruit that’s been stored in our chillers. Repack usually starts at the end of June and continues till November.
At DMS we like to make everyone feel welcome and that their work day is a happy experience. With so many people coming back year after year there’s always lots of familiar faces, and because we’re growing there’s plenty of new ones to get to know too.

We’ve got two packhouses to choose from. Most people will choose the one closest to where they live, where it’s easiest for them to get a ride too or where their friends and whānau work.

DMS Pukepack

We also have teams out in our orchards. For more details check out the ‘Rather work outside’ section below.
Working in a packhouse typically involves being on your feet for up to 10+ hours a day and many roles require repetitive physical motions.
Graders and Packers handle the fruit, while our Tray Preps line boxes to send down the packing line. All of these positions—Graders, Packers, and Tray Prep—demand repeated hand and wrist movements throughout the shift.
Stackers have the most physically demanding job in the packhouse and are responsible for moving fully packed boxes of kiwifruit onto pallets. This often involves lifting heavier weights repeatedly, at times above shoulder height to reach the top of the pallet stacks. By the end of the season, you’ll definitely be fit!
Forklift and Trolley Operators require a current Forklift License and OSH certificate. Previous experience is preferred and you’ll be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. If you’re working in the coolstores, you’ll be in and out of extreme temperatures so we’ll provide appropriate PPE, but be prepared!
We are in full swing and all shifts have started for 2025!
During our main kiwifruit packing period we run our operations both day and night and across all seven days of the week. This helps us to make sure we are packing our grower’s fruit at optimal time.
This doesn’t mean you won’t get a day off, it just means that the day might be different each week depending on fruit.

When you work with us you get treated like family, with support when you need, heaps of laughs and of course the flexibility to choose the shifts that suit you best. We have four shift choices (start and end times can vary slightly):
All shifts can pack up to six days a week and we would love you to join us for all packing days, however if there are days you can’t work we’ll try to work around it as best we can.
We’ve got two sites to choose from. Most people will choose the one closest to where they live, where it’s easiest for them to get a ride too or where their friends and whānau work.
